The Power of Fiber

FEBRUARY 2026 EDITION

MORE PLANTS. MORE FIBER.

Fiber:
Beyond Digestion

  • Start with whole grains: Try oatmeal, whole-grain bread, or whole-wheat pasta.
  • Bring beans to the table: Add beans, chickpeas, or lentils to soups, salads, and everyday meals.
  • Enjoy fruits and vegetables: Choose whole fruit and include a variety of vegetables throughout your day.

Build up gradually. Start with one fiber-rich addition to a meal and increase over time. Drink enough water and other fluids to help fiber support regular bowel movements.

FROM OUR KITCHEN TO YOURS

Provençal White Bean Salad

Everyday Beans, Mediterranean Flavor

This recipe brings together white beans, olive oil, wine vinegar, garlic, and parsley. The beans provide fiber and plant-based protein, while the dressing adds brightness and a gentle touch of heat.

Using cooked beans makes preparation simple. Drain and rinse them, mix the dressing, and toss gently. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors develop.

Behind the bite

White beans give this salad a creamy texture, while parsley, garlic, and wine vinegar add freshness and tang. A simple pantry ingredient becomes an easy way to bring more fiber to the table. Serve it alongside vegetables, fish, or chicken.

A LITTLE KITCHEN WISDOM

Rinse and drain the beans well, then toss gently to keep them intact. Let the salad rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Adjust the cayenne to your taste.
