COLOR. VARIETY. EVERY DAY.
Eat the Rainbow:
Bring More Color to Your Plate
- Mix it up: Include fruits and vegetables of different colors throughout your week.
- Start small: Add at least two colors to your main meals.
- Try something new: Choose a fruit or vegetable you haven’t tried before.
Make it colorful. Aim for three different colors on your plate. Add berries to breakfast, mix colorful vegetables into lunch, or try our Rainbow Power Bowl.

FROM OUR KITCHEN TO YOURS
Rainbow Power Bowl
Eat the rainbow—one colorful bowl at a time.
Bring August’s rainbow to your table with baby spinach, purple cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, red bell pepper, sweet corn, mango, and avocado. A bright lemon vinaigrette brings together crisp textures, creamy bites, and natural sweetness.
Make preparation a shared activity. An adult can handle the peeling and cutting, while a child helps tear washed spinach, whisk the vinaigrette, or arrange the prepared ingredients by color. Choose tasks that match the child’s abilities and provide supervision.
Behind the bite
One bowl offers plenty to explore: the crunch of purple cabbage, the sweetness of mango, and the creaminess of avocado. Invite your kitchen helper to name the colors or describe an ingredient’s texture. The learning can begin with observation and participation.
A LITTLE KITCHEN WISDOM
Use ripe but firm mango and avocado, and dry the washed vegetables well. Prepare the vinaigrette ahead if helpful, keeping it separate from the vegetables. Slice the avocado and add the dressing just before serving.
