Z Green Pineapple & Greek Yogurt Smoothie

About this recipe

Pineapple is native to South America and was cultivated and spread by Indigenous peoples long before Europeans arrived in the Americas. This modern smoothie pairs its sweet-tart flavor with spinach, plain Greek yogurt, and milk for a creamy green drink.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

Pineapple brings refreshing tropical sweetness and tang without added sugar. Spinach gives the smoothie a fresh green color while yogurt creates a creamy texture. One generous glass provides approximately 21 g of protein with just four ingredients.

Ingredients

Makes 1 serving (1 large glass). Nutrition information is for the entire smoothie.

  • Fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and diced (150 g edible portion / about 1 cup), or the same weight of unsweetened frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup fresh baby spinach (30 g)
  • Plain whole-milk Greek yogurt, unsweetened (170 g / about ¾ cup)
  • ½ cup whole milk (120 ml)
  • 1–2 tbsp cold water (15–30 ml), only if needed to thin

Preparation

  1. Wash and drain the spinach. If using fresh pineapple, remove the peel and tough core, cut the flesh into small pieces, and weigh 150 g.
  2. Pour the milk into the blender. Add the spinach and blend until the leaves are finely broken down.
  3. Add the Greek yogurt and pineapple. Secure the lid and blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until smooth and creamy.
  4. If the smoothie is too thick, add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and blend briefly until it reaches your preferred consistency.
  5. Pour the entire smoothie into one large glass and serve immediately.

Tips

  • Choose ripe pineapple with a pleasant fruity aroma for a naturally sweeter smoothie.
  • Use chilled ingredients or unsweetened frozen pineapple for a cold smoothie without adding ice.
  • Blend the spinach with the milk first to reduce visible leaf pieces.
  • If frozen pineapple is too firm for your blender, let it soften for 5–10 minutes before blending.
  • Enjoy immediately for the freshest flavor and texture; avoid storing the blended pineapple and dairy mixture for later.
